The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
