Mohamed Salah Offers Statement to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the group of players in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a European match following voicing frustrations and stating his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
The player stated that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I get that there are certain ways you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Team Form
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the matches since the initial controversy. The player is convinced the Salah's words were not intended to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it’s always been from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and on a positive run.”
