Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains a possibility. The 58-year-old, after a transformative near-decade reign featuring Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured England's top flight last season, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the notion that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach another team on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“Being 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll simply watch how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Questioned regarding which situations must arise to draw him back to management, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; No desire to be during downpours for lengthy sessions; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews weekly.

“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out alongside the squad talking freely, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games thus frequently a very good mood around the place. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears for example.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship last campaign. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong well-judged squad. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect at the club. The Portugal international was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. Not a single person will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Overwhelming.”
